RECYCLED TEAK

FURNITURE MADE OF OLD TEAK

Creating something new from old wood - that's the idea behind reusing wood from old, abandoned houses for these table. Recycled teak combines both the durability and strength of traditional teak with environmental benefits associated with recycling existing materials to ease the pressure off plantation and raw materials.
After sorting the components, foreign objects such as nails are extensively removed from the wood and it is then cut to size and sent for further mechanical surface processing. Natural wood resources are not consumed in the production chain. The special appeal of this material lies in the individual signs of use, such as holes and recesses from screws, nails or mortising, that are characteristic of these unique pieces. Larger holes are sealed with patches.

PROPERTIES

Old teak is very sturdy and weather resistant. Teak wood is characterized by high strength and hardness, warps very little even in a variable climate and is comparable to oak. The oils embedded in teak protect the wood very well and give it a very long lifespan.
When first used, rain may wash out the color pigments embedded in the wood, which can lead to stains on the floor.Particularly in the case of tile floors, sandstone floors or other porous flooring materials, we recommend thoroughly rinsing the tabletop several times before use on a resistant surface in order to accelerate the washing of the color pigments.
Small cracks can occur under the influence of rain, temperature fluctuations and light. This is normal and in no way influences the quality and lifespan. The occurrence of larger gaps between individual table rails is also a characteristic feature of this product. The wood acquires a silver-gray patina on the surface over time. This does not affect the quality of the wood or the usage properties, either.

MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE

You can gently remove dirt with a brush, some water and soap solution. We recommend performing this cleaning at least one to two times per year.
In order to counteract the patina and to renew the appearance of the wood, we recommend the regular use of teak oil or other appropriate wood maintenance products.
Follow the application and safety instructions. Moisture can penetrate more easily at so-called end grain locations, the locations where the wood is cut crosswise to its length and the growth rings are visible. Cracks formed at these locations can vary in severity. In order to minimize them, we recommend the regular application of wood wax or other appropriate care products for sealing wood surfaces.
If the patina that is typical for teak wood has formed, the natural wood tone can be restored if desired by sanding and oiling your garden furniture.
Always work in the direction of the wood grain during all work steps (cleaning, sanding, applying care products) and note the care instructions of your teak oil product.
Grease stains are best gently removed with sandpaper. Then wipe with a moist cloth.Superficial mold stains can occur in the case of constant moisture. These can be caused by persistent dirt accumulation from the air, incorrect maintenance or insufficient ventilation due to improper covering. To remove them, dry-brush the furniture with a coarse scrubbing brush. They can also be removed with sandpaper. In order that the black spots do not penetrate deeper into the wood, this treatment must be performed immediately after they are discovered.
